Greenlane
Renovation

Project Gallery

The project involved the thoughtful renovation of an existing single-storey bungalow, into a more spacious two storey family home. This needed to be done in a way sympathetic to the original character and charm.

To expand the living space the entire house was carefully lifted, creating space for an additional storey below. The architectural approach maintained the bungalow's heritage, seamlessly integrating elements from the original house. The exterior façade retained the familiar lines, roof pitch and materiality, ensuring a harmonious blend with the surrounding neighbourhood. The original interior panelling was carefully carried through the new entry and stairwell blending the old with the new.

“We  have had the pleasure of dealing with Buildology and Romè Smit on two occasions now for two substantial, but also very different renovations.
The first , a 1940s bungalow which was lifted and repositioned was, although a lengthy process, a beautiful home when finished which was a finalist in the Trends Renovation of the Year 2019. We couldn’t have been more proud of our home that had so much thought and care put into it by Romè.
We found her so friendly and thoughtful to deal with and she is truly passionate about her craft.
Similarly the second project , an early 2000 reclad has emerged a wonderful home with care and thought to bring out the very best in a difficult renovation.
Again, the care and time taken to produce the very best, under very difficult  compliance conditions has us once again thrilled. We are happy to recommend and also talk to any prospective clients of Buildilogy.
Our grateful thanks.”
