"“We engaged Romé at Buildology to design and plan a renovation for a small villa. Because we didn’t want to extend the footprint, the space was tight – and we required a lot from it. Romé developed a design that included everything we needed, and offered some really clever thinking to do so – the layout works, every day, and is exactly what we sought but couldn’t imagine for ourselves… There’s nothing we’d change.
With Romé in charge, the renovation flew through Council approvals. Romé was fully aware of all the potential issues regarding Heritage status homes, and able to supply solutions that satisfied both the council, and us. "“What started out as dreams for a new kitchen for our house, ultimately resulted in a full renovation and a stunning “as new” house. We initially used a draftsman to come up with renovation plans and ideas of different layouts but nothing seemed to work. After Covid, we had time to rethink what we needed and decided we needed some architectural expertise to help bring our vision to life and, perhaps, to come up with options we had not considered. We met with Romé and her team and appreciated them listening to us and being creative. Buildology was able to look at the existing floor plan, understand what we wanted to create, and come up with a design that was practical and functional but also had the wow factor we wanted. We knew it was the right design for our home from the moment we saw it. With Romé’s expertise, she managed to create the open plan look we loved, as well as feature curved stairs. Her design took an awkward space that no one could solve and gave us a comfortable casual nook. She was also able to recommend builders she had worked with previously, which also helped smooth the renovation process for us and gave us confidence Romé was always available to answer questions along the way and helped ensure the renovation ran as smoothly as possible. In an industry known for over-runs, her ability to stick to a budget was welcome too. "“We’ve recently finished a large renovation of a Villa in Onehunga with Romé and the team at Buildology. From the moment we started the project we felt we were in very safe hands, with helpful recommendations and great communication right throughout the project. One of the things that really stands out is when you hear the builders and a number of other tradies continue to comment about how there is a real practicality that makes their jobs easier throughout the build. So many times, when an architect is purely design led, there are a number of issues that come up when it comes to the building process. We found there was some great foresight here which made the build seamless.
In saying this – they are clearly strong from a design perspective too. We ended up winning two awards at the ADNZ Architectural Design Awards. Commended awards for ‘residential alterations and additions’, and ‘home interiors’.

My partner and I engaged them to renovate our 1926 Arts and Crafts home for our blended family. All 5 girls needed their own space and own rooms as did we. Our brief was simple. Renovate to give us a modern home that was comfortable, elegant and could easily entertain in. This wasn’t an easy task but they met the brief all the way and in many instances exceeded it. Mark was particularly pleased with his 8 car garage and I was thrilled with the clever use of space which is now our ensuite. The Buildology are exceptionally clever, work to budget and to time. "I own a Renovation Company called Renovation Builders. One of the biggest problems I have seen in my 25+ Years of Building is clients come to me with plans which have been poorly drawn or are well beyond their budget.
I first came across a set of Buildology plans some 12 years ago when pricing them for a client. As a builder the first thing we want to see is detail and be able to have quick interaction with the designer so a project can flow. Ultimately, poor plans cost clients money. We work alongside Buildology with pricing and know there will be quick turn around with detail when we run into issues on site whilst building.
I personally used Rome and the team for my own home and continue to recommend them to my clients.
