Compact Living
Project Gallery
The clients bought this small statehouse duplex with the dream of embracing compact minimalist living. The restrictive covenants meant that they were only able to add a small area of new building footprint.
The brief was to add a modest 38m² front extension which carefully incorporated a kitchen, dining, living nook. The kitchen cabinetry seamlessly flows into built in seating that wraps around the living nook. It provides a free-flowing social and connected environment while still being cozy and comforting. The external brick cladding from the original statehouse has been incorporated internally, reimagined into a fireplace and seating. The seating nook cabinetry transitions into the brick and concrete bench supporting a wood burning fireplace.
