This home began with warm tones and a modern aesthetic, but it lacked spatial efficiency and architectural impact. The upper level was dominated by a small, underutilized office space that didn't reflect the needs of the family. Ceilings felt low, rooms felt tight, and the layout didn’t support modern living. Meanwhile, the front façade appeared tired and uninspired, flat in appearance and lacking the definition or presence it deserved.

The design response was bold yet considered. One of the key architectural interventions was adjusting the roof pitch, allowing us to significantly increase the ceiling height upstairs. This not only enhanced the sense of space but also introduced more light and volume throughout the upper floor. The new layout includes a spacious shared media area, a hub for connection and relaxation, while the existing bedrooms were extended and reconfigured. Each bedroom now features a renovated ensuite and a generously scaled wardrobe, delivering a touch of luxury alongside practicality. The lower-level bathroom also received a modern refresh, ensuring continuity of design throughout.

From the street, the home is unrecognisable. The new façade introduces strong vertical lines through the addition of soaring wing walls and a striking aluminium screen that anchors the composition. These elements guide the eye upward, celebrating the home's height and architectural rhythm. Clean-lined parapets frame the form, giving it a bold, contemporary silhouette.

Complementing these strong vertical features, horizontal cedar cladding brings warmth and material richness. This contrast between texture and geometry softens the exterior while enhancing visual interest. The front of the house, once bland and recessive, now proudly presents a confident, cohesive, and modern identity.

This renovation is more than cosmetic, it’s a complete transformation. It balances thoughtful planning with refined detailing, creating a home that now functions beautifully for the family within, while making a striking architectural statement from the street
