Greg and Vanessa have an active growing family. Their current home is centrally located within an area offering a great community environment. It has privacy as it is set back from the road, but more importantly, it offers space for the family to enjoy. They were faced with the option of selling and moving into a bigger home, but it became clear that in doing so they would be compromising on the large landscape they currently have.

Greg and Vanessa made the decision to invest and renovate their current home instead. The brief was to open the living areas to create a better flow internally and to better connection with the landscape. There needed to be a defined spacious entry with stairs leading up to a new second level addition. This second level would incorporate a master suite with walk in wardrobe and en-suite, as well as an additional guest bedroom/rumpus.

It was very exciting during the initial planning stage to see their ideas and discuss the possibilities. The building process was a bit longer than anticipated but the family was very pleased at how accommodating the builders were.

Greg and Vanessa love the indoor-outdoor flow and the extra space the new layout provides. There is a spacious landing at the top of the stairs with a large window and built in seating. It allows a lot of light to stream into the space, creating a peaceful little nook. They were also pleased with the overall blending of the old brick with the new weatherboard to be in keeping with the original look of the house. The final result met both their expectations and the only regret they have, is that they hadn’t done it sooner.

“Greg and Vanessa were so excited throughout the project, making it fun to work through the process with them. I loved standing in the kitchen with its openess and flow. You almost feel like the green landscape in the background is part of the space. The little nook at the top of the stairs was a bonus treat. I can imagine relaxing by the window reading a good book.”
